What we can help with

  • Billing, renewals, cancellations and refunds
  • Something on a card came out wrong
  • Getting your data out, or deleting it
  • Accessibility — if something here does not work for you, tell us
  • A description that was sorted into the wrong dimension

What we will not do, however nicely you ask

  • Tell you what is wrong with your car, or what it might be
  • Name a component, or give a list of possible causes
  • Say whether the car is safe to drive
  • Estimate a repair cost or a labour time
  • Recommend a garage, a chain or a brand
  • Listen to a recording — we do not accept uploads of any kind

Not evasiveness — it is what the service is. See the AI notice.

01If something goes wrong

How a complaint actually goes.

  1. 01Email usPut what happened and, if it is about a payment, the date and amount. Nothing else is needed.
  2. 02We acknowledge within 2 working daysA person, not an autoresponder with a number in it.
  3. 03We resolve or explain within 10 working daysIf it will take longer we tell you why and when.
  4. 04If you are still not satisfiedYou keep every right you had before you contacted us. We do not belong to an alternative dispute resolution scheme — there is no general obligation for a UK business to name one, and we would rather say so than imply otherwise. You may take a dispute to the courts of England and Wales.

Payment problems, refunds and the statutory cancellation form are on the cancellation and refunds page. Data questions, including your right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office, are on the privacy page.

02Asked and answered

Rattlemap does not answer that, and it is built so that it cannot. It makes no judgement of any kind and names no component. It will not tell you what something might be, what it sounds like, what usually causes it, or which of several things is most likely. There is no list of possible causes anywhere on this site and no fault code.

What it produces is a description: the conditions the noise turns up under, written the way a garage asks about them. Those conditions are useful precisely because a garage will ask for them. What they point at is the garage’s work, not ours.

The narrowing you see on this site is a width, not a shortlist. It says how much ground has been ruled out. It never says what is left in it.
